In the case of the dowels provided for use in the tension zone of an anchor base, the widening of the bore as a result of crack formation can cause axial displacement of the expansion sleeve, which results in considerable slippage, in some cases even in failure of the anchorage. In order to permit or to improve the follow-up expansion of the dowel, the invention provides, as a bearing element, a spring lock washer (11) which has an external diameter greater than the diameter of the expansion sleeve and which can be compressed to the diameter of the expansion sleeve. In order that secure bracing of tbe spring lock washer (11) in the bore (8) is achieved, an expansion surface (20) engaging into the spring lock washer (11) may be provided on the expansion sleeve (1). <IMAGE>
