In a process for treating organic waste products made of solids and liquids, in particular slurry, to reduce the throughput times and to achieve high quality biogas and highly growth-promoting fertiliser which can be applied during the growth phases it is provided that in a first stage, the fresh waste products, in particular the fresh slurry, are first introduced into a hydrolysis reactor (6) and stored and the gases forming, in particular CO2 and H2S, are taken off, and only then fed to a solids separator (10) and are brought in a second stage into a fixed-bed continuous flow reactor (14) where essentially methane gas is taken off.
