This device is of the type including two articulated arms positioned, during operation, on either side of a container, one of the ends of each of the arms being equipped with a clamp intended to seize the containers via the upper end of their lateral sides, and their other end extending, beyond their axis of articulation, by means of a branch. According to the invention, this device comprises two links (connecting rods) 43 of equal length which are each articulated, via one of their ends, to the branch 16b of one 16 of the arms and via their other end to a finger 42 integral in translation with a roller 40 on which a cam 51 acts, elastic means 46 being provided in order to return the arms into the opening position. <IMAGE>
