The invention concerns a method for the production of temperature-resistant plastic films on diaphragm-gland surfaces, a plasma or acetylene/oxygen flame being produced from a plasma or flame spray gun which, using a cooling-gas flow of 40 to 150 SLpM, melts a plastic material and sprays it on to the diaphragm-gland surface. Coatings produced by this method have layer structures ranging from impermeable to porous and can be utilized at up to 250 .degree.C when poly(phenylene sulphides) are used as the plastic material.
