PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device and a method in which a line and a character in existence in received image data are clearly outputted in the case of outputting colors used for the received image data while being assigned to colors capable of being outputted by an output device and the colors in use are outputted in a surely distinguished way. SOLUTION: A saturation calculation section 103, a lightness calculation section 104 and a hue calculation section 105 calculate saturation, lightness and hue of each color used for received image data respectively. An achromatic/ chromatic color classification section 106 classifies each color into achromatic color or chromatic color based on the calculated saturation. Based on the lightness of the colors classified into the achromatic colors, an achromatic/lightness sequential assignment section 107 assigns achromatic colors displayed by a LCD to the colors. Furthermore, based on the hue of the colors classified into the chromatic colors, a chromatic hue sequential assignment section 108 assigns the chromatic colors displayed by the LCD to the colors. |
