The wall switch or plug socket outlet has a base (1) incorporating electrical switch contacts, release levers and/or switch wipers, over which a housing (2) is fitted, with cooperating interlocking elements (9,11) for securing the housing to the base. The interlocking elements (9) associated with the housing are provided by an insert (3) fitted into the housing. The insert may be in the form of a frame which a peripheral contour corresponding to the internal contour of the housing wall.
