The apparatus for cutting up rails (2) includes a feed and positioning unit (3) with a holding or support device (4), and a cutting unit (6) in a working zone (5). The cutting unit incorporates at least two cutting torches (7) arranged side by side along the length of the holding or support device. The holding or support device has two stopping places (8) for the rails. These stopping places are distanced from one another, and are offset relative to the cutting torches. There is at least one cutting feed unit (9) for displacement of the cutting torch and the holding or support device relative to one another and across the length direction of the working zone (5).
