PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an antimicrobial member without damaging the appearance of a glaze layer and capable of manifesting sufficient antimicrobial activities. SOLUTION: This antimicrobial member has a glaze layer 2 formed on the surface of a substrate 1, and the glaze layer 2 includes ceramic powder 3. The surface of the ceramic powder carries silver 4. The proportion of the silver based on the total weight of the ceramic powder 3 and the silver 4 is >=10 wt.%, and the proportion of the silver based on the glaze layer is <1 wt.%.
