NONHALOGEN FLAME-RETARDANT RESIN COMPOSITION AND ELECTRIC WIRE/CABLE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition which does not generate a noxious gas on combustion and has good flame retardance and excellent mechanical strengths, and an electric wire/cable using this resin composition in the insulator/ sheath. SOLUTION: The nonhalogen flame-retardant resin composition can be obtained by adding 50-250 pts.wt. metal hydroxide and 3-20 pts.wt. composite rubber based graft copolymer to 100 pts.wt. polyolefin based resin. Further, a boric acid compound may additionally be added to this composition. The nonhalogen flame-retardant resin composition is used in the insulator of an electric wire or in the sheath of a cable.
