<p>The template (40) is arranged to be tiltably supported by the substructure (4) via respective support elements (60, 90, 20). A tool (100) which can be connected to a pipe string (104), which can be deployed from a platform or vessel (80) at the surface, can be connected to the substructure (4). Jacks (130 - 136) Fig 1 of the tool can act on contact formations (70 - 76) on the top of the template (40), tilting it to a levelled position. On the platform the string (104) is initially connected to the tool (100) which in turn is connected to the substructure (4). The substructure is then lowered through the template (40) and support elements (20, 90, 60) of the substructure and the template are brought into abutment with each other. The tool, the template and the substructure are then lowered and the lower portion (12) of the substructure is inserted in a hole (3) drilled in the sea bed and cemented therein, whereupon the jacks are operated and the template is levelled. Since the jacks are located above the template, the tool (100) and the jacks (130 - 136) can be released from the substructure and the template respectively and hoisted up. On levelling, cement is pumped into the annulus between the central tube (48) and pile support portion (10). Setting of the cement fixes the template in position. Other means of fixing the template to the support portion are disclosed.</p> |
