PURPOSE: A solidifying material for the electrolyte solution for a battery and a battery containing the solidifying material are provided, to allow a thin film with a uniform thickness to be formed and the electrolyte solution of a battery to be absorbed easily and to be solidified. CONSTITUTION: The solidifying material comprises 0.5-70 wt.% of a polymer(segment A) non-compatible with the electrolyte solution and a polymer(segment B) compatible with the electrolyte solution; and is a block copolymer which absorbs the electrolyte solution and solidifies it. The minimum unit of the block copolymer is A-B-A; and the segment B is bonded with at least one group selected from the group consisting of a carboxyl group, an ester group, a hydroxyl group, a sulfonic acid group, an amino group, a cyclic carbonate group and a polyoxyalkylene group via a -S- bond or a -C- bond. Preferably the segment A is a polymer having a mass average molecular weight of 10,000-500,000 selected from the group consisting of polystyrene, polyethylene and polypropylene; and the segment B is a polymer having a mass average molecular weight of 10,000-300,000 selected from the group consisting of polybutadiene, polychloroprene and polyisoprene. |
