PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication module that is easy to produce and allows building of an inexpensive, reliable system. SOLUTION: Laser elements are fabricated so that a light-emitting portion is smaller than the cross-sectional area of the optical waveguide portion of an optical waveguide member, and are arranged at such density that a plurality of them can be present within the range of the cross-sectional area of the core of an optical fiber. On the face of a connector portion opposite the electrodes of lasers, an electrode pattern for connection is formed in specified size and shape for selectively connecting the electrodes for laser with electrodes for drive circuit for connection with an external drive circuit. When the connector portion is roughly positioned and placed on the laser element portion, only the laser elements in contact with the electrode pads for connection are connected with the external drive circuit. Thus, electrical connection including lasers that can be launched into individual optical fibers by at least the electrodes connected by the electrode pattern is implemented, and an optical module wherein optical transmission based on the laser elements driven by the external circuit is obtained.
