PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more effectively correct color slippage both accuracy-wise and cost-wise by increasing the flexibility of a controller for one and the same engine in a laser printer in which an engine and the controller are separated and which has a laser direct constitution. SOLUTION: When a color slippage amount in a main scanning direction calculated by the engine 200 is transmitted to the controller 300, a color slippage correction value in the main scanning direction is calculated and is held in a color slippage correction value holding part 307 based on the color slippage amount in the main scanning direction transmitted by the controller 300, and the transmission timing of a horizontal synchronizing signal for the controller 300 is controlled by the engine 200 based on a correction value held by a color slippage correction value holding part 202, and also the transmission of a video data to the engine 200 is controlled based on the correction value held at the color slippage correction value holding part 307 by the controller 300.
