PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron improving the finishing by reducing creases erroneously formed in ironing and facilitating the maintenance of steam holes. SOLUTION: This iron is provided with a base 1 having an ironing surface 3 and heated by a heater 2, a lid body 5 having an ironing surface 3 and disposed in the side of the ironing surface 3 of the base 1, and an iron body having a handle 8 with a grip part 9 opening its rear part. The ironing surface 3 of the base 1 is formed into a downward projecting shape, at least, in the front/rear direction, and the top part 10 of the projecting shape is positioned on the base 1 offset from the lid body 5.
