PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cost-reduced backstop of a spinning reel for fishing, having a holding structure of a rolling member, easily and compactly attached to a reel body, having lightweight, carrying out stably smoothened action, and having improved strength and durability. SOLUTION: The backstop of the spinning reel is constituted by installing a ring-shaped holding body 9 having a guide hole 8 for storing a rolling member 7 which is positioned between a ring-shaped outer frame 10 attached and fixed to the reel body 4 and a rotary shaft 3, and the movement of which in the outer diameter direction is regulated, so as to be turnable, enabling the ring-shaped holding body and the rolling member to be switched between a wedge-acting state and a wedge-unacting state by an operating member 13 installed in the reel body, installing a means 11 for urging the rolling member in the direction in which the wedge action is performed, in the ring-shaped holding body, and protruding a pressing protrusion 18 for pressing the rolling member at a backstop state of the ring-shaped holding body, from the inner surface of the guide hole.
