REFRIGERATOR HAVING AN ICE MACHINE MANUFACTURING ICE AND AN ICE BREAKER CRUSHING ICE AND A CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A refrigerator and a control method thereof are provided to use the refrigerator conveniently, and to prevent the injury from the ice breaker by safely controlling the ice breaker crushing ice in rotating the motor with the motor control unit. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator has an ice breaker crushing ice by using rotational force of a motor. A main control unit(202) controls operation of the motor, and a motor control unit(204) regulates the rotation of the motor prior to motor control of the main control unit in opening the door of the storage chamber with the ice breaker to prevent the injury from the ice breaker. A door sensor(206) detects opening of the door of the storage chamber with the ice breaker, and transmits detection of door opening to the motor control unit. The motor is controlled by the main control unit in closing the door.
