PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system for a cage of an elevator, for maintaining lighting uniform, by arranging an inverter which lights a cold-cathode tube as a light source not to make a shadow, and for enhancing designing property of the lighting of the cage. SOLUTION: A plurality of light source units 8 are disposed to a ceiling part of the cage of the elevator. Each light source unit 8 is constituted of a base 10, the cold-cathode tube 12 stretched over the surface of the base 10, and an inverter 16 disposed to the base 10 to be positioned out of an illuminating face on the surface side of the base. Since the inverter 16 is disposed to the base 10 to be positioned out of the illuminating face on the surface side, the shadow of the inverter 16 is not made to maintain the lighting uniform, and the designing property of the lighting of the cage is enhanced.
