PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire for a passenger car providing improved wet braking performance, while maintaining abrasion resistance. SOLUTION: This pneumatic tire for a passenger car is structured by stretching at least one layer of a carcass layer 4 formed by arranging reinforcing cords f, which are extended in the tire cross direction between a right and a left bead parts 3, with the predetermined interval in the tire circumferential direction, arranging a plurality of belt layers 8 and 9 in a tread part 1 on the peripheral side of the carcass layer 4, and forming land parts 14 in a tread surface 1A by separating them with grooves 12 and 13. Mean residual deflection of the reinforcing cords f of, at least, one carcass layer 4 is set at -10 to 4% in ranges X formed from both edges 8a of the widest belt layer 8 to a position Q at 30 mm inside from both the edges 8a in the tire cross direction, and at -1 to 4% in a center side range Y positioned between the ranges X.
