PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems in a conventional technology that no consideration is especially taken about so-called special reproduction of a moving image recorded on an optical disk; for instance, a variable speed reproduction of n-fold speed, a reversed reproduction, etc., besides a continuous reproduction of normal speed, are generally requested in the reproduction of the moving image, thereby a player compatible with them is required; and a high speed retrieval is similarly requested also for the retrieval operation. SOLUTION: A table for special reproduction is recorded, and sector addresses are added on each sector. Then, by this optical disk reproducing device, the above table for special reproduction is referred to obtain the sector address of corresponding compressive image data, and the reproduction is carried out by retrieving the address on the optical disk. By this procedure, the special reproduction such as the high speed reproduction, slow reproduction, reproduction in the reverse direction, etc., and also the retrieval operation are easily attained.
