A computer system and a booting method thereof are provided to realize a fast booting speed by using a storage device including a dynamic memory part, and offer an automatic backup mode for stably managing a booting-related program/data including an OS(Operating System). An internal storage unit stores booting-related program/data including an OS, and keeps the stored program/data even though power is not received. An external storage device(310) is attached to a computer system and loses the data when the power is not provided. A controller(315) performs booting by executing the booting-related program stored in an internal storage device and stores the booting-related program of the internal storage device to an external storage device when the external storage device is detected and the booting-related program is not found in the external storage device. Hereafter, the controller performs booting by executing the booting-related program stored in the external storage device, and backs up the booting-related program stored in the external storage device to the internal storage device when the power is cut off. The external storage device includes a dynamic memory part(320) for reading and writing the data.
