<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an optical laminate including a coating film containing a lyotropic liquid crystalline compound by which the thickness of the coating film is made substantially uniform. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the optical laminate having a base material and a coating film includes a step in which a liquid solution containing one or more lyotropic liquid crystalline compounds is coated on the base material to form a coating film, wherein the density of the lyotropic liquid crystalline compound in the liquid solution is lower than the density of the transition density of isotropic phase-liquid crystal phase. The density of the lyotropic liquid crystalline compound of the liquid solution is from (C<SB>IN</SB>-18) mass% to (C<SB>IN</SB>-1) mass%, where C<SB>IN</SB>stands for the transition density of isotropic phase-liquid crystal phase. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
