PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical alarm device using a light-emitting element incapable of being tested by causing weak current to flow therethrough, allowing the light-emitting element to in a normal time, periodically, and automatically be tested without being erroneously recognised as an alarm.SOLUTION: The optical alarm device comprises: a light-emitting element (xenon tube 6); light emission driving means 10 for driving the light-emitting element; control means 14 for controlling the light emission driving means; and discharge detection means 19 for detecting a discharge in the light-emitting element. In reception of an alarm signal indicating emergencies such as fire, the control means controls the light emission driving means to provide notification of an alarm by causing the light-emitting element to perform flash light emission. In a normal time, the control means controls the light emission driving means to perform test light emission in which the light-emitting element periodically emits light in a shorter period of time than the light emission for providing notification of an alarm. The discharge detection means detects discharge in the light-emitting element, thereby determining that the light-emitting element functions normal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
