The hollow building block, as used in heat and sound insulated wall construction, incorporates two parts with an intervening insulating layer, with connecting cross-arm pieces passing through this. The connecting cross-arms (4) have holes (8) running right through from top bearing surface towards bottom bearing surface. They also have sidewalling pieces (11, 12) with transitional pieces (13-16) rounded off towards the sides (9, 10) of the block parts' (2, 3) facing the insulating layer (5). The sides of the connecting cross arms may be drawn inwards towards their centre. The holes may be of elongated elliptical cross-section. Improved insulation is combined with reduced risk of fracture.
|
