<p>PURPOSE:To improve responsiveness of a supercharger used in an internal combustion engne, by fitting an annular projection formed on a compressor housing of the supercharger into a sliding groove of a thrust housing in an axially slidable manner. CONSTITUTION:A compressor housing 1 is arranged to be slidable relative to a thrust housing 2 and a bearing housing 3. That is, an annular sliding groove 201 is formed along the outer circumference of the thrust housing 2, and an annular sliding projection 101 formed on the compressor housing 1 is fitted into the groove 201 in the manner that it is slidable in an axial direction. During low- load operation of the engine, hydraulic passage 39 and 35 are communicated to each other by a hydraulic changeover valve 37, so that pressure of lubricating oil is transmitted into a pressure chamber 33. This causes downward movement of the housing 1, so that a clearance H is made maximum. Therefore, resistance to the intake air flow is reduced to a great extent, so that startability of the engine can be improved.</p> |
