PURPOSE:To enable a pigmented ink to be used without generating clogging, by a system wherein an ink sheet obtained by coating a base with microcapsules enclosing a liquid ink therein and a means for breaking the microcapsules are provided, and the ink is ejected under heat or an electric field generated by a recording head, thereby performing recording on a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:When the ink sheet is moved as indicated by an arrow 34, upper parts of the microcapsules 13 enclosing a liquid ink therein are broken by a knife edge 20, whereby the liquid ink 33 is exposed to the surface. The unrequired portion of ink from the broken microcapsules 13 is dammed by the knife edge 20, so that it cannot flow forward beyond the knife edge. The ink sheet 16 is heated by a thermal head 21 from the back side thereof in accordance with an input signal. The ink 33 in the microcapsules heated to a high temperature is brought into a bumping state, and ink droplets flying in the direction of the recording medium 23 is adhered onto the medium 23 being moved in synchronism with the movement of the ink sheet 16, thereby forming an image 24. |
