The present invention relates to an artificial sphincter system capable of taking the place of a damaged sphincter to control the metabolism in a human body automatically, semi-automatically or manually i.e., by constricting the sphincter in the general normal state, and opening automatically it when matters such as foods or excrements have been accumulated to reach a certain level of pressurization or expansion. In another embodiment, a signal indicating means such as a LCD and/or speaker is further included so that a patient knows an appropriate operational time of an artificial sphincter means, thus, the patient can take an appropriate action. In a still another embodiment, a switching means in addition to the signal indicating means is further included so that the patient can determine whether or not to open the sphincter. |
