The reel (1) for coils of wire etc. has a rotary plate (3) for mounting the coil support which can be driven by same. A linear drive is provided to act via a lever arm with interposed free wheel on the rotary plate. The freewheel can be designed as a clamping body free wheel. The linear drive can operate with oscillating movement and can comprise a pneumatically operated piston cylinder arrangement. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simplified use of reel for coils of wire etc.
