A microtome, in particular, a rotary microtome with a base frame (10) is disclosed, on which an object mounting device (32), for carrying out a vertical sectioning movement is provided. The microtome further comprises a knife mounting device (12), for a cutting element (24), embodied by a cutting knife (26) or by a cutting blade combined with a blade holder. A significant cost reduction and a significantly increased torsional stiffness and stability on generation of cutting forces may be obtained, whereby the knife mounting device (12) on the microtome comprises two side bearers (14), which extend forwards from the lower end section (16) of the base frame (10). |
