The present invention relates to a coating cup for simultaneous joining together of a number of optical fibres to form a fibre cable and coating the latter with two protective layers of coating material. The coating cup comprises a body 1 with two first and two second diametrically opposite inlet ducts 4, 5 for coating material, a nozzle holder 9 pressed firmly into the body, a control nozzle 22 inserted into the nozzle holder, and two nozzle mouthpieces 32, 39 inserted into the nozzle holder. The nozzle holder 9 has first and second annular grooves located in front of the inlet ducts and, connected to these grooves, first and second radial bores. According to the invention, the control nozzle 22 has a frustoconical inlet bore 24 which merges with a control bore 25 which is oblong in section and is adapted to the fibre cable, and the first nozzle mouthpiece 32 has a frustoconical recess 33 which merges with a sectionally oblong mouthpiece bore 34 and is arranged in such a manner that a first gap 36 is formed between the nozzle mouthpiece 32 and the control nozzle 22. The second nozzle mouthpiece 39 has a frustoconical recess 40 which merges with a sectionally oblong mouthpiece bore 41 and is arranged in such a manner that a second gap 43 is formed between the nozzle mouthpieces 32, 39. The nozzle mouthpieces have distribution ducts 37, 44 which are connected to the radial bores 19, 21 and distribute the material around and fill the material between the fibres in the mouthpiece. <IMAGE> |
