<p>PURPOSE: To minimize the power consumption of a note book type portable computer by collecting and interpreting power relational data in various kinds of processing elements. CONSTITUTION: Power relational data are monitored and collected in a portable computer (200), and a time for using a computer is maximized until the next recharge of a battery based on the data. The electric energy consumption of a personal computer is minimized by selectively supplying power to plural independently controllable power planes (202,...220). This system is provided with plural asynchronously operating CPU (208, 264), on/off glue logic means (266) which monitors a battery condition, function called by a user, and system state, and power managing means (256, 258, 260) which control each operation of the CPU according to the detected state.</p> |
