PURPOSE:To easily provide a metal complex presenting good solubility, easy to prepare color coating liquids when used as a quencher, free from decline in the reflectance of the recorded layers made using this complex, also giving optical recording media with little deterioration in reproduction and due to rays of light. CONSTITUTION:The objective metal complex, a compound of formula III (v and w are each 0-5, however, being not zero at the same time; (t+v+w) is <=5), can be obtained by reaction between (A) a compound of formula I (R1 and R3 are each H, monovalent substituent, or being combined into a ring; R3 is monovalent substituent; t is an integer of 0-4; when t is >=2, the R3s adjacent to each other may be combined into a ring; X and Y are each S or Se; M is metal atom) and (B) a compound of formula II (R4 and R5 are each hydrocarbon group or carbamoyl) in a non-aqueous solvent at 10-200(pref. 30-150) deg.C for 0.5-50 hr. Among the metal complexes obtained, a compound of formula IV (R6 is cyanoalkyl) is a new compound. The other objective optical recording medium can be obtained by coating a substrate with a color coating liquid containing (1) a metal complex quencher composed of the compounds of the respective formulas III and IV and (B) a coloring matter. |
