High power lasers for industrial use, mainly for materials processing, having an annular laser cavity and means for generating an axis-symmetric laser beam which is polarized. The conical mirrors can be axicons or waxicons with a selective coating. Method for producing a laser beam with preferred azimuthal and preferred radial polarization based on the use of conical intra-cavity mirrors on their equivalents.
