A fiber coil real (100) on which a long optical fiber (10) is wound a required number of turns, and which is used in an optical fiber gyro which has a fiber coil consisting of the long optical fiber (10) which is wound required number of turns, a coupler (22) by which an optical fiber (16) led out of a light source and an optical fiber (20) connected to a photodetector are optically coupled with each other and, an optical IC chip which is provided between the fiber coil and the coupler (22) and has a phase modulator and a polarizer mounted on an optical waveguide. A space in which the long optical fiber (10) is wound is provided along the circumference of the fiber coil reel (100), and a through-hole (102) into which the shaft (74) of an assembly jig (70) is rotatably inserted, is formed at the center of the reel (100). The optical fiber gyro can be assembled easily and the manufacturing cost of the optical fiber gyro can be effectively reduced.
