The invention concerns a pharmaceutical composition with antitumor activity based on carboplatin and comprising an aqueous solution of carboplatin with a carboplatin content from 1 to 20 mg/ml, which is characterised in that it contains immediately after its preparation an amount of impurities causing a nucleophilic substitution of the carboxylate ligand of carboplatin, especially 1,1-cyclobutanedicarboxylic acid and/or a salt thereof, which is less than 0.1 % by weight based on the weight of the present carboplatin.
