PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold powder for casting a high Al-containing steel, with which the raising of the viscosity is restrained even in the case of raising Al2O3 content in the molten powder and the characteristics as the mold powder are kept during operation, by providing the powder for continuous casting the high Al-containing steel having extremely high Al, such as >=0.1%. SOLUTION: The composition of the mold powder for casting the high Al- containing steel, is composed of 1.0-5.0% T.C, 30-40% Si02, <=10% Al2O3, 25-40% CaO, 10-25% Na2O, 10-15% F and the balance inevitable impurities. Further, suitably, the basicity of the above powder, i.e., CaO/SiO2 is made to 0.8-1.0 and the viscosity at 1300 deg.C is made to >=1.5 P.
