The stroke piston internal combustion engine, particularly a two-stroke large diesel engine, has a fuel injection system with at least one injection pump per cylinder, whose index is adjustable dependent upon load by a positioning device. The positioning device contains at least one load-dependent rotatable index shaft (5), which has a pivot lever (6) per injection pump connected with a displaceable positioning number (8) of the pump by means of a connecting rod (7) linked on both sides, the length of which is adjustable. Each connecting rod, at least at one end, is connected with an adjacent structural part by means of a pin and slot arrangement. The pin (13) is formed as a clamp component, and the center line of the slot (15) corresponds to a section of a circle.
