The stirring apparatus, for mixing a liquid, has a number of blades (B) fitted to a hub (N). The blades (B) have an asymmetric curvature profile resembling an aircraft wing and a unified thickness. The blade has two longitudinal edges, with a curvature radius which decreases from the first longitudinal edge to the second. The blade (B) has a Reynolds number of <= 60000 and a sliding count of no more than 0.09 (especially no more than 0.04), and preferably <= 0.04 at a Reynolds number of 40000-120000 and especially up to 180000. The second longitudinal blade edge runs into a point. Both longitudinal edges have different lengths. The blades (B) are held by connecting arms (V) at a gap from the hub (N). The profile axis (P) of the blade profile is at right angles to the hub (N) axis. The blades (B) are set at an angle of 0.5-30.0 deg to a plane at right angles or parallel to the hub (N) axis, or the blade profile axis (P) is parallel to the hub (N) axis. The blades (B) are mounted so that they are diametrically opposite each other on a plane at the hub (N), and the stirrer has blades (B) on a number of planes with their hubs (N) on the center shaft (W).
