PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ammonia absorbent having improved water absorption even though a woody material such as a wood flour is used as a raw material, further having a large deodorizing function by absorbing an ammonia component, and capable of being composted in a short time. SOLUTION: The woody component such as the wood flour is brought into contact with ozone to subject the lignin included in the woody component to ozone oxidation to open the aromatic ring of the lignin, and to enable the ring-opened lignin to absorb the ammonia.
