PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display having a high display grade by using an optical compensating film utilizing a liquid-crystalline compound showing optically positive uniaxiality. SOLUTION: The optical compensating film obtained by disposing an optical anisotropic layer formed substantially from a liquid-crystalline compound showing optically positive uniaxiality and obtained by fixing a nematic hybrid aligned structure in the liquid crystal state of the liquid-crystalline compound on a cellulose acetate film having an average acetylation degree in the range of 59.0-61.5%, an Re retardation value in the range of 0-20 nm and an Rth retardation value in the range of 30-70 nm is utilized in a liquid crystal display. |
