PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life mercury-free metal halide lamp, metal halide lamp lighting equipment, and headlight equipment for automobiles. SOLUTION: Mercury is not enclosed substantially in the metal halide lamp 1, and the metal halide lamp operates by the lamp electric power of 37 to 60 W at the time of stability. This metal halide lamp 1 has an electric discharge container 2, which has a light emitting parts 2a, a pair of sealing parts 2b and 2c jointed to both ends of a light emitting parts 2a, and a non-sealing part 2d jointed to side and part of anti-light emitting part of the sealing part 2b. An outside pipe 7, which covers the light emitting part 2a, is joined to the outside of this electric discharge container 2. Specifically, the end part 7a of the outside pipe 7 is joined to the non-sealing parts 2d, and the end 7b is joined to the sealing part 2c. |
