PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating the stress of a structural member capable of accurately estimating the stress generated on the back side surface of the structural member. SOLUTION: The shift of phases between the waveform of a load stress generated when repeated load is given to a member, and the waveform of the stress measured with an infrared imaging device is measured. The relation between the ratio of bending component stress and axial force component stress mixed in the member and shift of the phase is turn into a model. The stress of the structural material 1 is measured from the front surface side by the infrared imaging device. The ratio of the bending component stress/axial force component stress, corresponding to the shift of phases caused between the waveform of the measured stress and the waveform of the load stress, is calculated with this model. The measured stress of the structural member 1 is separated into the bending component stressσa and the axial force component stressσb, based on the ratio of the bending component stress/axial force component stress. By subtracting the bending component stressσa from the axial force component stressσb, the stress of the back side surface on the strutural member 1 is estimated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
