An induction heating apparatus that can halt the heating so as to prevent the output voltages of boosting and power-factor improving circuits from being excessively boosted. An induction heating apparatus comprises a boosting function part that includes a power-factor improving circuit (7) and a boosting circuit (14) and that receives a DC power supply, uses ON/OFF operations of a switching element to boost the DC power supply to a DC voltage having a larger peak value than the DC power supply, and outputs the boosted DC voltage; an inverter circuit (15) that has a heating coil (21) and that receives the DC voltage outputted from the boosting function part and uses ON/OFF operations of another switching element to generate a high frequency current in the heating coil (21); and a boosting circuit driving control part (32) that halts the boosting operation of the boosting function part in response to a halt of the operation of the inverter circuit (15) without any delays that are over a predetermined time period.
