A beam (10) runs high in the space between the presses, transverse to the direction of transport. A carrier (24) running along the beam can be raised and lowered. An arm is fastened on the carrier, parallel to the direction of transport. A clamping mechanism for the gripping tool is located on the underside of the arms. The carriage (34) has two resting levels (42, 44) for the gripping tools, which can be moved transverse to the transport direction, relative to each other. On the beam (10) there are two carriers, their arms being connected by a rod linkage (44); the gripping tools are mounted on the rod. The clamping mechanism travels on the arms, along their undersides. The clamping mechanism is coupled with arm movement relative to the carrier, such that when the clamping mechanism is moved from one end of the arm to the other, the arm is moved from one end position to the other. The arms consist of at least two components, one lying over the other. These can be moved relative to each other in the longitudinal directions of the arms.
