A secondary battery is provided to allow an electrode assembly to be inserted into a can, thereby preventing the damage of the lower part of an electrode tap and the internal wall of a can. A secondary battery comprises an electrode assembly(11) which comprises a jelly roll type battery part(12) comprising a first electrode(13), a second electrode(15) and a separator(14) interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, and first and second electrode taps(16,17) combined with the first electrode and the second electrode, respectively; a can(10) which accommodates the electrode assembly; and a cap assembly(100) which is combined with the open upper part of the can, wherein the first electrode tap is located at the outer part of the battery part and is drawn upward, and the external surface of the lower part of the first electrode tap longer from the battery part is sharp toward the internal surface shorter from the battery part. |
