<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of optimally reducing power consumption amount. <P>SOLUTION: The printer 101 for performing printing on the basis of print data received from a host device, includes a print history information storage part 106 for storing the print history information of the print data, a power consumption amount computing part 107 for computing the power consumption amount on the basis of the print history information corresponding to each setting value associated with the power consumption amount, and a notifying part for notifying the power consumption amount computed by the power consumption amount computing part to a user, allowing the user to recognize the present power consumption amount.
