PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of waiting time required for jetting function recovery operation and a waste of an ink by reducing unnecessary jetting function recovery operation. SOLUTION: An ink-jet printer 1 performs formation of an image by jetting an ink from nozzles of an ink-jet head 4. When a power supply is turned ON after reaching a state in which the time can not be measured by a time measuring section due to OFF of the power supply, the ink-jet printer 1 outputs to a display section a signal which causes a display control section, provided in a controller 60, to display a message asking a user whether or not a cleaning operation by a recovery operation control section is to be performed.
