The present invention relates to a vertical alignment layer comprising a copolymer of at least two cyclic olefin compounds which are different from each other. More particularly, the present invention relates to a vertical alignment layer which can have orientation in a low temperature process, and can exhibit excellent liquid crystal orientation by comprising a copolymer of at least two cyclic olefin compounds, wherein each cyclic olefin compound has different particular substituent groups.
