摘要 An electro-optical device includes a display portion, a data line driving circuit, a first retention capacitor that retains the potential of the data line, a driving control circuit, and a display control circuit that supplies brightness information to the driving control circuit and also supplies an image signal to the data line driving circuit. The data line driving circuit includes a potential control line to which a potential control signal is supplied, a third retention capacitor one end of which is connected with the data line and the other one of which is supplied with a potential based on the image signal, and a first transistor that is electrically connected between the other end of the third retention capacitor and the potential control line. The driving control circuit controls the potential of the potential control signal based on the brightness information.

An electro-optical device comprising: a plurality of scanning lines; a plurality of data lines; a display portion equipped with a plurality of pixel circuits that are provided at positions corresponding to intersections of the plurality of scanning lines and the plurality of data lines; a plurality of first retention capacitors, each of the plurality of first retention capacitors retaining potential of one of the plurality of data lines; a data line driving circuit electrically connected with the plurality of data lines; a driving control circuit that controls operation of the data line driving circuit; and a display control circuit that supplies brightness information, which indicates brightness of an entire screen to be displayed in the display portion, to the driving control circuit, each of the plurality of pixel circuits including: a light emitting element;a driving transistor supplying electric current to the light emitting element;a write transistor electrically connected between the gate of the driving transistor and one data line among the plurality of data lines; anda second retention capacitor with a first end and a second end, the first end of the second retention capacitor is electrically connected with the gate of the driving transistor to retain voltage between the gate and the source of the driving transistor, the display control circuit supplying an image signal that specifies luminance of the light emitting element to the data line driving circuit, the data line driving circuit including: a potential control line to which a potential control signal is supplied from the driving control circuit; and a level shift circuit, the level shift circuit including: a third retention capacitor with a first end and a second end, the first end of the third retention capacitor is connected with the above one data line and the second end of the third retention capacitor is supplied with a potential based on the image signal; anda first transistor electrically connected between the second end of the third retention capacitor and the potential control line, and wherein the driving control circuit sets the potential control signal to a first potential when the brightness information is a first value and sets the potential control signal to a second potential when the brightness information is a second value.
