<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing good hollow particles capable of holding a large amount of dissolved gas by heating the raw material in an oxidizing atmosphere to form a shell. SOLUTION: An amorphous material containing 2.3-8.0wt.% of Fe in terms of FeO and having a CaO/SiO2 weight ratio of 0.2-0.53 is produced by melting a raw material composed mainly of waste material in a nonoxidizing atmosphere and cooling the produced molten material. The obtained amorphous material is crushed to granules and heated in an oxidizing atmosphere to effect the reaction of the atmospheric gas with the amorphous material. The particle is expanded by the formation of a shell substance and simultaneously subjected to the release of gas by this reaction.</p> |
