A workpiece (5) to be emptied is clamped, in abutment with a holding device (4), between the jaws (10) of a vibrating device (1). A feed duct (19) is directed into an opening (20) of the workpiece cavity (8). A mixture of a granular material, preferably core sand, and a gaseous medium, preferably compressed air, is formed and is blown into the cavity (8) by means of the feed duct (19) through an injector nozzle (17). With simultaneous vibration of the workpiece, the latter is thus freed internally from the sand core and cleaned. <IMAGE>
